Those who are big Star Wars buffs and dog lovers should continue reading as Volkswagen found a great way to combine the two. There's a new commercial making its way through the internet after Volkswagen premiered it during this year's Super Bowl. The video, officially dubbed "The Bark Side," features a chorus of eleven dogs howling out the "Imperial March" that often denotes Darth Vader's entrance.
What exactly does this have to do with cars, let alone Volkswagen? The video is more or less a follow up to the successful Super Bowl ad from last year. Volkswagen's previous entry was a commercial called, "The Force." In it, a young boy dresses as the famous Sith lord, then proceeds to try and impose his destructive will on various objects around his house. Upon failing to move anything with his mind, he's finally able to get his father's 2012 Volkswagen Passat to light up with the wave of a hand. Unbeknownst to him, however, is the fact that his father is standing inside with his car's remote starter.
It's easy to see then why Volkswagen would want to make such a big deal out of their new ad. And apparently, the general public sees why too. After uploading "The Bark Side" to Youtube, Volkswagen has already raked in 5-million views. And their official Super Bowl ad for this year hasn't even aired yet!
Of course, the fact that we can't help but speculate about the new Volkswagen Super Bowl ad means that this teaser is doing its job, and well.
