Most people are familiar with that recognizable body shape that signals the Volkswagen Beetle, and over the years, it’s been known by many names. Well, now there is one more name to add to the list, because what once existed as only the product of customization and imagination has officially come to be the first vehicle named after the hashtag that inspired it; the #PinkBeetle is real, it’s official, and recently, it joined the fight against breast cancer.

While it’s only recently been unveiled, the #PinkBeetle is already bringing some good to the world. In conjunction with FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda, Volkswagen decided to auction off the first production model of the #PinkBeetle, to the tune of $30,272.00. Proceeds from the auction will go to support FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda in their efforts to support breast cancer research, educational outreach, and awareness.

“We are thrilled that the first limited edition #PinkBeetle has helped raise money to join the fight against breast cancer by supporting the efforts of FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda through this auction,“ said Vinay Shahani, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Volkswagen of America. “Volkswagen is proud to have worked with FAB-U-WISH, The Pink Agenda, and Giuliana Rancic, in their commitment to raising awareness for the cause, and finding a cure. The auction winner – and all bidders who participated – should be proud of their generosity.”

While we don’t have the 2017 #PinkBeetle here in our Myrtle Beach, SC showroom just yet, we invite you to come on down to check out the many wonderful members of the Volkswagen lineup. If you’re interested in the #PinkBeetle and nothing else, we can answer any questions you may have about it. Though it is being offered in limited quantities, if you get to us in time, we can point you in the right direction for ordering one for yourself.
